I just finished this book, sort of, since I had to speed read the last bit to finish it. I should have read some of these reviews beforehand. I can't quite pinpoint what it is about it that I don't like, but your review does a nice job on hitting on many of those.
I was also annoyed that there were no quotation marks for the dialogue. Eventually, I had to go to the audiobook because I couldn't stand it. The audiobook, however, has accents so that made it frustrating to listen to as well.
I've been meaning to read this book for a long time and chose it hoping for a quick read to start my new year, but it took me six days to get through such a short piece, unlike you.
