Here are book choices for a January VBC; the usual rank choice voting applies:Saga, Volume 1
Blood Over Bright Haven
Hammajang Luck
The Incandescent
Remnant Population
The Raven and the Reindeer
The Memory Police
The War of the Worlds
Oh, so many to choose from.1) Saga
2) The Raven and the Reindeer
3) Blood Over Bright Haven
4) Hammajang Luck
I'm also deep into Saga at the moment. If the VBC is at the end of January, I'll probably have read all 70+ episodes by then.
Otherwise I could try to get into one of the rereads (my preference is basically the order in which Melanie has posted them).
1) The Memory PoliceThis is the book I’m planning to finish, but I’ll wait and see what gets chosen!
1. The Raven and the Reindeer 2. The Memory Police
3. Saga
Here are my top choices for the January reading! 😊
Ok, I would like to change my voting order:1) Saga
2) The Memory Police
3) The Raven and the Reindeer
4) Hammajang Luck
I have discovered, that I have The Memory Police in my ebook subscription. At the same time some of my friends have read Blood Over Bright Haven and it is not on my priority to read anymore.
I will be late. I have to take the kid to Karate, which starts at 4:15. I hope I won’t be a whole 15 minutes late though. Can you maybe talk about general things until I get there?!? Please? Pretty please? See you tomorrow!
Haha yes, I'll try to prolong some general chatsee you in roughly 2 hours!

Image Comics describes Saga as "an epic space opera/fantasy comic book series". https://imagecomics.com/comics/series...

Aga wrote: "It was great seeing you all today. What choices do we have for February meeting?"I think we have The Night Circus and Leviathan Wakes as rereads.
Febraury Book Options: *Let's choose a book this week, so we have time to read whatever gets picked.
Godkiller
Station Eternity
The Night Circus
Leviathan Wakes
Oh thanks. I'd be interested in The Night Circus, but probably wouldn't make it on time. On the other hand I've read literally two thousand pages of the Expanse saga and watched the entire six seasons of the tv series. I can talk endlessly about it anytime.
I already read The Night Circus and the whole Expanse series and going to read both February BOTMs, so add my voice to whichever will be in the lead :)
Hmmm The Night Circus and Leviathan Wakes are two books I have never finished. I stuck somewhere in the middle. I could finish one of those, I think. So, in that case:
1) Godkiller
2) The Night Circus/Leviathan Wakes (ex aequo)
Unless there is another freak snowstorm, I am unlikely to attend, but I vote for not Night Circus. I really just have issues with the book and no desire to re-read it.
Rearranged my choices, because I wouldn't mind listening to a.g e. talk about LW (and I found out I have a NC discussion with another group in March)
I would be most interested in reading Leviathan Wakes but am unlikely to manage to finish it in time.
https://doodle.com/group-poll/partici...pick a time! also, I'm considering moving the meeting "location" to discord. what do we think about that?
Hello,Fine with Discord.
Love the public calendar event subscription. Vote to continue it. :)
1. Godkiller
2. Station Eternity
3. The Night Circus
4. Leviathan Wakes

We meet on Zoom, both video and voice are optional as there is also a lively chat.
We pick the book and the time as a collective joint effort from those who follow this thread. Days and times are usually submitted via Doodle which does not require any sign ups or personal information beyond a name which can be any name you choose.
Books are ranked by choice and we do ranked choice voting which means we see which book is picked first. If there is a tie, then we do an immediate runoff with the tied books in second place being counted.
If you'd like more on how that works, please see the example in the following spoiler tag:
(view spoiler)[
First person votes, in order:
Book A
Book B
Book C
Book D
Another person votes
Book B
Book A
Book C
Book D
Person 3 Votes
Book A
Book C
Book B
Book D
Person 4 votes
Book B
Book A
Book D
Book C
The votes for books in first place are tied between books A and B. Therefore, the majority would like A or B. We then look at votes for A or B in second place and see that 2 people voted for A second and only 1 other person voted for B second. Thus, book A would have 4 votes versus Book B's 3 votes and win the selection.

It seems complicated, but don't worry, the moderator hosting will do the math for you! All you have to do is say which books you want to talk about, read the book that wins (if you'd like) and then attend (as long as you're OK that there may be spoilers about that book).
The discussion is moderator-led and the conversation is lively. Often, even if folks do not finish a book they have wonderful insights they share, so don't be shy! If time permits, we then chat books in general for the remainder of the hour.
