I’m so glad to see someone with similar thoughts to me. I’m 84% in and the editing is driving me mad so I ran here to see if I was the only one noticing them!
I read the prequel then wanted this book. I’m only 20% in and the switching of pronouns is already annoying me. I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to pronouns but I would have thought if their preferred pronoun was they/them … then “he/his” wouldn’t have even been mentioned when referring to Jesse
You are right, it’s confusing af and actually takes me out of the story.
