I love Rachel Joyce. I love her overdrawn characters and their improbably difficult journeys, their triumphs and growth. I love her humor. The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry was my first and probably my favorite but I've never been sorry to pick any of her novels up. Just found this one from her backlist, set right after the Second World War, and it was fabulous--feminist, some fascinating tidbits about entomologists and scurvy. Highly recommend, especially now when we could all use an escape.
