On the summer solstice, recent college graduate Annie Oberlin washes up on the shore of a magical island. Here she encounters the perils of the faerie court, and befriends a one-handed knight named Caesar. Caesar has been on the island her whole life, but she is human, kidnapped as a baby and brought up to serve the Summer King. Serving the Summer King is all she is supposed to live for, but her ties to humanity remain.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the lake, a frantic young man tries to protect a living disembodied hand, which is all that remains of his long-lost sister... until one day, a chance meeting on the lake challenges everything he knows.
