The economic misfortunes of the Iranian people are largely due to nearly 50 years of sanctions by the U.S., not government mismanagement. An otherwise great review.
Great review! I enjoyed Hooman Majd's The Ayatollah Begs To Differ, another book that talks about contemporary Iranian society and how different it is from what NYT or others make it to be.
Khaled, I did try to elude to that in my penultimate paragraph, about the American role in this situation.
