Lizz I’ve read Shanghai Baby. I read it because it was banned in China. It was ok. Not shocking or “decadent.”

I figured that was the case. There are far more shocking and "decadent" books out there. This is not one of them. For sure it's because a Chinese woman is writing about a lifestyle that Chinese government doesn't approve. I'll read "Shanghai Baby" as well.

Fran Hawthorne What an interesting review! You say the book is light, yet it also seems that it has a lot of serious aspects with your fascinating comparison to Anais Nin!
