Janny Reader: trust the author. Author: trust the reader.

Direct interaction, no reviewer in between, no buzz, no hype - the art of forming your own opinion for yourself, all but lost in the internet age of signal to noise.

Happy Reading - I expect you will find many fresh and unique experiences, in line with your preferences, and not! There is much to be said for discovery, no expectations attached!

Mark Johnston I would say don't overthink it and read stuff that calls to you.

I read "The Song of Achilles" because it had a cool helmet on the cover. I had no idea of what the content was at all, and probably would not have picked it up if I had.

I ended up really enjoying it and was able to discuss it with a few of my students who also read it because of that.

I need to move out of fantasy and sci-fi and try some other stuff. I am thinking mystery/whodunit might be an area for me to read more of this year.
