Lena The sequel to Switching Tracks, The Long Haul Pursuit of Hope was published in June.

The Long Haul: Pursuit of Hope
The Long Haul Pursuit of Hope (Train Hoppers, #2) by Lena Gibson

In 2195, GreenCorps controls the arid western lands of the former United States. They regulate water and sell only terminator seeds–forcing ongoing dependence on the corporation.

Elsa has the key to the Doomsday seed bunkers and taking it north to Canada is the only way to ensure its safety.

Tim Berube What about publishing to the Amazon Vella program?
Would they go here?
I've published one but it does not show up on Good Reads add book/author tool.
(The book itself is very close to completion. Just over 97K words so far, and, maybe half a dozen to a dozen chapters from being done.)

Do our members read Vella's?
I had thought it a better venue to try than 'Royal Road', for a new writer with no visibility yet.

message 6: by Gertie (new)

Gertie I've actually never heard of the Vella program! (If you feel like it, maybe you could start a new topic/thread and tell us about it.)

As for announcing things here, any book you wrote is fine! Doesn't matter who published or where it's being sold etc.

Missives from the Hinterlands: Into the Purple Black Is that the book that you don't see in the add book option? Sometimes you just need to search it right, if even a character is off you could get bad results. I usually pick the most unique words, so to find this one I used "missives berube".

Tim Berube "The Chronicles of dog, Book I, The Forlorn Worlds", is the one I don't see.

Here is a link to the Amazon Vella Program, and, I'll do as you suggest, Gertie,
after my walk either tonight or tomorrow morning.

https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella

Just to touch on a couple of points in this thread,

It is serialized fiction.
You can post your book on Vella First, and then on Kindle, after, but not the other way around,
And, From the kindle website,

"All about tokens

Purchased tokens can only be redeemed to unlock Kindle Vella episodes. 10 Tokens are required to unlock an episode. Prime Student members read everything free with their membership when logged into their account.

You can read Kindle Vella stories in the Kindle app and on the web at www.amazon.com/kindle-vella."

Forgive, I don't recall how to make a clean looking, HTML link.
This is the link to the book in question.

message 8: by Gertie (new)

Gertie I wonder why it isn't on the site, some of that stuff is a mystery to me. Nonetheless, I'm actually a Goodreads Librarian, so if you message me the info I can create a record for it. You can just look at another book's info and provide the equivalent, as well as an image. You can email that to apocalypsewhenever at yahoo.com. Let me know if you do!

The complication is that it is under a different author name, so in order to manage that book yourself in the future, you need another account under that pen name. Goodreads doesn't have a way to manage mutliple pen names under one account.

message 9: by Tim (new)

Tim Berube Thanks, Gertie!
I will do that,
Probably tomorrow.

I’m fudding my way through the pen name stuff. :/
Sigh,
We’ll see.

message 10: by William (new)

William Rayst I published two books this month, one in each of my favorite genres. The first is a science fiction novel, The Last Pilot. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find in this young adult epic saga:

Caythan doesn’t just pilot a Trang spaceship; she becomes the ship. Exploring the stars and proving her worth to her father had always been Caythan’s goals. But her empire is gone, and she’s only known the life of an Empress. Learning to serve others and protecting her Human rescuers will take a lot more than fancy flying.

The Last Pilot by William Rayst

The other book is the first in a three-part fantasy series, The Chronicles of the Dark Blade. In book one, Amon Rising, we follow Ginevra, a teenage Amon (a race of infernals) raised by the enigmatic assassin known as the Dark Blade. She has been silently eliminating human invaders in her mentor’s stead, mastering the art of death within the shadowy confines of their mountain lair. But as she steps beyond her cold, stoic existence, Ginevra yearns for the warmth and connection of a community life she has only glimpsed from afar. Determined to experience humanity, she disguises herself as one of them, inadvertently exposing her true nature to her clan, the humans, and the rogue wizard Kalan. She is hunted by Lysette, a human knight seeking redemption for her part in the war with the infernals. As Kalan’s dark ambitions unfold, he captures Lysette, intending to sacrifice her to ignite a war that could spell doom for humans and infernals. In a daring move, Ginevra saves Lysette, defying her clan and becoming a fugitive. As she fights to convince her people of Kalan’s true threat, the wizard murders Ginevra’s mentor and sets his apocalyptic plans into motion. Bound by a mutual desire for vengeance and a fragile alliance, Ginevra and Lysette embark on a perilous quest to stop Kalan. Amidst the chaos, Ginevra grapples with her emerging powers and the complexities of her growing bond with Lysette, a friendship that challenges the very foundations of her world.

Amon Rising Chronicles of the Dark Blade by William Rayst

I’m working on the second book of this series and the first book in a related series set in the same world as Amon Rising. Whew! It’s been quite a Summer.

I'm diving into your Better Fiction: 12 Lessons to Writing Great Novels The sample looked great!

I'm going to second what Gertie said,
and, the description of your two books is compelling. Plenty of hooks there.

Tim Cann Greetings fellow Apocalypsers,

The Kindle edition of my book Canceled: A Modern Greek Comedy is free on Amazon for the next five days (starting 9/28/24).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9N2PY6J/

Is it dystopian enough for this group? Perhaps...insofar as social media or current U.S. politics might seem dystopian to you.

The blurb: "If it feels good to be bad, then these ladies are in ecstasy! Meet Lane Bryantt, shameless debutante and mother to a pair of lusty blonde alt-right social media influencers, and follow her family to contemporary left-coast Los Angeles as they become trapped on a dystopian reality television show of their own making. Will they escape the clutches of their evil producer, or will they be doomed to evolve into a life forever lived on the screen? Follow Lane and her family’s misadventures in this satiric, humorous take on social media and reality television until they finally find that rarest of commodities in modern-day society—privacy!"

Content warning: cursing, sexual situations, alcohol use

If you do get a free copy, please consider leaving a review! I just released the book and could use all the reviews I can get to impress Amazon's algorithms. Thank you.

Christopher Beaman Echoes of Verdancy: The Last Verdant: Book 1

So, just published this (hard cover, the paper back and ebook won't get released till the end of the month). I'd love some feed back on it or just for some people to enjoy it. Here is the blurb for it:

In a world shattered by apocalypse, where corruption spreads like whispered poison through what remains of civilization, Annestasia Caine awakens alone—her stark white hair and runic scars marking her as something both blessed and cursed. The dead walk the forests while nature itself twists into beautiful abominations beneath an indifferent sky.

Possessing a unique ability to control verdant magic that flows like luminescent veins beneath her skin, Annestasia finds herself torn between two destinies. When she falls for Commander Vega, whose perfect features hide ancient malice, she discovers too late that love can wear the most convincing masks. Behind his tender words lurks Mixtli, an ancient being whose plans for mankind involve transformation through beautiful corruption.

As settlements struggle against the encroaching rot, Annestasia must gather unlikely allies—an elven archer haunted by ancient betrayal, a taciturn scout who sees too much, a witch who speaks more easily to plants than people—and confront the heart of darkness that once claimed her heart. In a final confrontation where magic burns like whispered violence across decaying battlefields, she must embrace both her power and her pain to forge a future where verdancy might echo once more through a broken world.

I hope some of you enjoy it, and the ones to come in the future.

Biale Drageo What’s worse than being dead? Being almost.

This is not a story of how the world ended.
It’s about what parts of us refuse to. It’s about memory. Grief. And what survives when everything else is gone.

For readers of The Road, The Last of Us, and Station Eleven, this story asks one thing:
What makes you human… when you’ve lost everything human?

👉 The One Who Refused to Feed: The Real Horror is What You Can't Forget will be FREE on Amazon for 5 days starting June 7.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when the monsters remember… and one of them refuses to feed, then this story is for you.

Grab it while it’s free. And if it haunts you after, feel free to share, review, or leave a single haunted emoji. 🖤

Alexander Addams Hi all, I'm Alexander Addams, a Indigenous writer, or more accurately, a traditional storyteller, and my debut, 'Gardeners of Consciousness,' is a unique work of sci-fi Indigenous Futurism that I've crafted using voice-to-text, as if I were telling it directly to you. This groundbreaking narrative of decolonization and rebirth is an essential addition to any Indigenous/Native books group and I noticed that you did not have any Apocalypse books that were of this nature, so I added it to the bookshelf. It is told through the eyes of Aidan O:nenhkwe, a Mohawk archivist and story-teller, who witnesses society's downfall and the rise of unexpected individuals who guide humanity to its next level. My book reclaims power structures, elevates matriarchal governance, and demonstrates how Indigenous ways of knowing are vital for survival, offering a challenging yet ultimately uplifting exploration of what happens when oppressive systems collapse. Written in a traditional spoken word style, 'Gardeners of Consciousness' is a pro-feminist, LGBTQ2S+ narrative deeply rooted in Indigenous traditions and the necessity for cooperation, exploring the fascinating concept of a storyteller chronicling the journey of another storyteller through a pre-, post and post-post-apocalyptic world saved by the most unlikely of heroes. Feel free to check it out and let me know your thoughts on this layered narrative experience!

Cornelius Moon Hey fellow apocalypse survivors!

I'm in the midst of launching my first book, which is essentially the pre-history of a video game I've been working on for a little while. It's not explicitly GameLit, but there's a little. It's more thematically Black Mirror, structurally World War Z, and setting Westworld. Here's the short blurb:

Sharp, bite-sized stories revealing the subtle nudge that pushed humanity past its tipping point, from the rise of sentient AI to a brutal medieval neural-VR reality show.

I would love to have a few of you join the ARC team, read for free, leave a good review / give feedback on BookSprout: https://booksprout.co/reviewer/review...
