(cont.) Her apartment was about a dozen miles away, and I didn’t have a car, so I had a long night of walking ahead of me. The road east of town was more of a county highway, with no sidewalks or shoulders, and any time a rare car passed by at high speed, the passenger typically yelled a homophobic slur at me, or maybe threw an empty bottle at my head. And my walkman batteries slowly died about two tapes into the hike. Luckily one of the tapes was Godflesh - Streetcleaner, which sounds even better at half speed.
