Jan I love that there is new thread for the upcoming new year! I've loved being part of CFD since I joined Goodreads a couple of years ago.

I live in the Northeastern region of the U.S. I've been a Christian for 35 years. I'm married with two children. One is an adult and has his own apartment. The other is 17. Both are readers!

I teach 3rd grade, so sometimes children's books might be included on my shelves. My favorite genres are historical fiction, realistic fiction, and nonfiction. My husband, daughter, and I read through the Bible each year.

Glad to "meet" all of you!

Kate TBH, I'm not entirely sure I introduced myself when I joined the group several years ago . . . so . . .
Hi! I'm Kate, and live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my husband of going on 27 years and our young adult son. My first foray into Christian fiction was as a young teen when the girls in my congregation's youth group passed around Janette Oke books regularly. To this day, she remains one of my absolute favourite authors!
I found this group almost by accident. A friend of mine was talking about her online book club, and I was super curious about that . . . the next thing I know I'm a member of CFD, and really loving the experience . . . reading books together, participating in probably a few too many challenges (but so much fun!), and making some dear friends who, while we may never meet face to face this side of Heaven, will always hold a sacred space in my heart!

Lynnette Hello friends. I’m Lynnette. I live with my husband of 44 years in Sherman, Texas where we have owned our Archery Pro Shop for 37 years. Our son lives a few blocks from us and also works in our store. I have always loved to read, but went several years hardly reading at all when life became busy with PTA, sports, and all the things. I can’t remember exactly how I found CFD, but I think 2026 will be my fourth year participating in challenges. This group got me back into reading, and for that I will be eternally grateful. The first year I told myself not to join too many challenges so I could figure out how the group works and what works for me..then promptly joined 20-25. Second year I told myself that was probably too many, so dial it back this year..then promptly joined 20-25. This past year, you guessed it..same. Looking through the 2026 options I can already tell I will be overextending myself again. But, I hope to try something new this go around. The past three years I have chosen my books according to the challenges, which has allowed me to try new genres, new authors, and read books I probably would have never chosen on my own, and it has been awesome, but I have missed some of my favorites. In 2026 my plan is to choose books/authors just because I want to read them and then see if/how they fit into my chosen challenges. I’m curious to see if one method is more enjoyable than the other. How do you choose your books?

Andrea Cox I'm Andrea, one of CFD's moderators for the past several years, from north Texas. I'm an author of Christian fiction romance, women's fiction, and romantic tragedy. I love Dallas Stars hockey, books, movies, TV shows, and a zillion other things, but God and family are my favorites, for sure. I look forward to another year of serving you, CFD family.

I hadn't realized you were a fellow Canadian, although I live in the States now. My uncle raised his family there (researcher at U of A) and one of my brothers did his Ph.D in a different science field at U of A (after his post-doc he spent 5 years in Fort Mac.) I've been there, but it's been a long time so I'm sure plenty has changed

Karen Hello friends, I'm Karen. My husband (of 37 yrs) and I currently live in New Mexico. We signed a contract last fall to have a barndominium style home and shop/RV garage built in Arkansas, so we will be moving later this year. We are both retired and love exploring the country in our motorhome. We are also looking forward to exploring the 53 state parks in Arkansas in addition to exploring more of the National Park System (Parks, Monuments, Historic Parks, Military Historic sites, etc.).

I have always loved to read, but it's only been in the last few years, and with the help of this group, that I have gotten back to being a bookworm. In addition to camping, hiking and reading, I am also an avid needleworker. The other things that keep me busy are my 3 Bible study groups and volunteering with one of the local American Heritage Girls (AHG) troops. I look forward to another fun and challenging year with our CFD family.

Tawnay Hello! My name is Tawnay. I just joined this group, I’ve had Goodreads for a year or 2 but have never really used nor known how! I didn’t know groups on here was a thing!
I live in KY with my husband of 17 years and our 6 kids. I stay home with all my kids and homeschool them. All learning to have a love of reading! I didn’t start loving to read until I was 20. Now, I typically read in bursts. When I start a book that I love, it’s near impossible to put it down so I read and read staying up till hours in the morning and my responsibilities get pushed aside somewhat. So my goal this year is to work on self control so I can consistently read fiction books and not just 3-4 in a couple weeks every several months! Excited to have found this group!

My daughter has a real barn they tore down and put up again for their home. Lots of work but so nice. She sanded every board and the walls are the boards except for a few rooms. I did not know there was a name for them.

Mckayla Hello! I found my faith in April 2025. I have come back to Goodreads only recently. I left groups, deleted every friend, and now I am starting over. I saw this group and decided to join up. Friend requests welcome!

Terry Eissfeldt Hey Everyone
I became a Goodreads member in 2023 but haven't really engaged much.
I searched for this group as I'm focusing on reading Christian fiction more this year.
I live near Edmonton, Alberta with my hubby of 40+ years. Two of our four children live in Alberta (4 grandkids) and two live in BC (6 grandkids)
I've ordered the Book of the month and look forward to interacting with you all.
I am also open to friend requests.
Blessings
Terry Ruth

KL Books Hello, I'm Knox. I've been a Christian all my life. Some of my interest besides reading is musical theater, and orchestra. I play for my school orchestra and play the viola (not the violin). And in my upcoming theater performance I'm playing a musical called Newsies.

message 22: by Megan (new)

Megan Hello Everyone,
I live in central Virginia, USA with my husband of 11 years and our three kids. Lily age 8, Graham age 4, and Liam age 1. Needless to say they keep me very busy so I don't always find a lot of time to read. Listening to books while I do chores helps so much. I love spending time with my family, church activities, reading of course and writing. Nothing published right now, but maybe someday. I've been a part of Goodreads for quite a few years now. If I remember correctly, I found this group from Avid Readers of Christian fiction on Facebook. I love interacting with others that enjoy Christian fiction and I look forward to the challenges every year! I'm also open to friend requests :)

Andrea Cox Welcome, Megan!

message 24: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Sienes Hello Everyone,
I've been a member of Goodreads for several years, but I somehow missed joining this group until now. I live in Middle Tennessee (an hour south of Nashville) with my sweet husband and our very spoiled and precious Maltese. We have two grown children (one living nearby and another in Tokyo). I am a full-time author of Southern Fiction, and I admit I don't have as much time to read as I'd like. However, I'm always on the hunt for new favorite authors. Aside from writing, I teach Sunday school to older preschool children and facilitate a weekly women's Bible study.

message 25: by Ian (new)

Ian Watt Fantastic ! Really encouraged to see others with similar interests and well done for influencing the fiction market with good reads (there is a lot of rather dark and negative stuff out there - we need a little light to shine into literature!).

I have a few studies on the Gospel of John: Have a look under Ian Neall Watt - this is one of my recent ones ...

Aluko Mercy Hello everyone.
I have been a Christian all my life and just joined Goodreads this year. I love reading, and I especially love Christian fiction. However, I have a hard time finding good Christian books. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Nice to meet you all.

Andrea Cox Welcome, all!

Aluko, here are some Christian fiction books I've loved.
My Heart Remembers by Kim Vogel Sawyer Shine Like the Dawn by Carrie Turansky Love Overboard by Shannon Sue Dunlap Until Leaves Fall in Paris (Friends in Resistance, #2) by Sarah Sundin The Icecutter's Daughter (Land of Shining Water, #1) by Tracie Peterson Chasing Hope by Kathryn Cushman Shaped by the Waves by Christina Suzann Nelson

message 29: by Ian (new)

Ian Watt Welcome and great to see the recommends.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... A Daughter of Zion - I think I read it a while back and it was really good!

My own offering on Goodreads is less fiction, more reflective bible studies on John:

The Wedding https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

...feel free to have a glance at it too.

message 30: by Lili (new)

Lili Hi Everyone!
I'm Lili and I'm actually from Hungary. I've been a member of this group a little over a year now, but I think I forgot to introduce myself when I joined.
I'm living with my family (and twin sister who I love very much) and I study law. I'm engaged and planning to get married in April. Besides reading I love to crochet, hike, study languages and spend time with family and friends. I love to join the challenges and read the book of the month with the group too. I'm looking forward to this year as a CFD member as well and I hope everybody will have a wonderful year!

message 31: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox Welcome, all!

Lili, congratulations on your engagement!

message 32: by Erika (new)

Erika Vasquez Hello friends!
My name is Erika and I just moved to Nashville last year after graduating from Liberty University with my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Psychology and am actually starting my Master’s in Forensic Psychology at Liberty as well!

I guess I’ve had goodreads for a while but decided to get serious in my reading this year in an effort to grow in my faith while minimizing social media and worldly distractions.

A little about me:
- I left the Catholic Church last year and am hoping to get baptized in my current church out in Murfreesboro this year!
- I am 23 and am a Behavioral Health Technician at Vanderbilt
- I have a 4 year old Chihuahua named Astrid who loves all the attention 🐾
-My favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11
- I aspire to be a Forensic Interviewer for children someday or a victim advocate of some sorts.
- I am aiming to make new friends this year!

Lovely to meet everyone!

My current read: Joy Bomb by Tauren Wells :)

Gary Gocek Erika wrote: "I left the Catholic Church last year and am hoping to get baptized in my current church..."

Assuming you are already baptized--even if as an infant--you do not need to be baptized again. This has nothing to do with Roman Catholicism. Christians are Christians. It's OK to change denominations, due to doctrinal and dogmatic and clergy differences, and I am a former Roman Catholic now Episcopalian. Your new church might have a welcoming ceremony or an educational program, but if they call it "baptism", ask them why. To require a second baptism is heretical.

Not all Christians recognize infant baptism but this isn't the place to discuss theology :)
