I don't know that a private company restricting DMs is "fascism," which was an early 20th century political movement. But I agree with you that we would all be better off if Goodreads allowed direct messaging. And I've made my opinion known.
Might I suggest that everyone post an email address on their profile so that they can be directly contacted without going through the Goodreads/Amazon filter.
Karah, we don't allow author self-promotion in this group. The sole purpose of this group is to help people find forgotten books. This is your first and only post in the group and you're not looking for a book but are protesting a Goodreads policy (and promoting your book). Please use the group for its intended purpose only.I'm moving your post out of "Solved" and into "Just to chat" because your post has nothing to do with a book query.

Please join me in protest against Goodreads' decision to end direct messaging. Readers, no different from any other group of people, need to remain in open, clear, and direct contact.
Send messages to your friends on Goodreads so that the executive board at Goodreads recognizes the futility of that decision. It is imperative that Goodreads preserves the capacity of direct messaging.
Thank you for joining me in protest!!!! We need to end the assault on books!!!!
An ardent reader speaking to ardent readers,
Karah Khalia
