This was my first read of 2026 and I might still have a book hangover from it. Excited to see what people think!
Oh, this was a good one! I just finished Such Sharp Fangs hoping it would entertain me like this one, but no dice.
I enjoyed this one. It really hits the ground running and goes in a lot of bonkers directions, even if it is directly inspired by the works of others (which I won't name here to avoid spoilers). The author does acknowledge those references in the essay at the end - in fact, I enjoyed the author's note/essay at the back of the book so much, I'd kind of like to read more non-fiction/personal essays by them.
I was only able to get the audio, so I believe I am somewhere around 15% in right now. There is so much that happens so fast! I had to go back a couple times and listen again to make sure I was following the insanity. I really like it so far, it is not at all what I expected in the best way!
I'm about half way through have some feels about the cartoonish feel to it but won't say anymore yet til more people are farther along...
I'm just joining this type of group for the first time, and I'm very excited looks like a good read.
I’ve been looking forward to having an excuse to move this one to the front of the queue for a while. Now here it is. My first Nat Cassidy experience. Can’t wait.
I had started this in January before nominations even went out, and it's been slow going, not because I haven't enjoyed it, but because life keeps getting in the way of my reading time. Very interesting premise! I'm almost to the halfway point now, and expect progress to pick up.
I've had this one on tbr for a long time as well as having the ebook waiting, so starting within the next couple of days.
Great pick for a group read. Books like When the Wolf Comes Home tend to spark the best discussions because the tension and themes invite interpretation beyond plot details. From a podcast perspective, this is exactly the kind of story that works well in long-form conversations, not just what happens, but how atmosphere, fear, and character choices land differently for each reader.
Looking forward to seeing how the discussion unfolds here (and yes, spoiler tags always appreciated!).
The physical copy of this book just arrived yesterday, but I probably won't get to it until at least the middle of the month. Always so many books of the TBR list with so little time. Still biting at the bit to get to it, though.
This was my 4th favorite book of last year. It's a lot of fun with some deeper themes to think about. I enjoyed how the writing style is like a fairytale.
As some have said, it's derivative in its broader story. However, the specifics are so fun and gnarly, it feels like it makes something old new again. Loved the characters (shout-out to Uncle Pepsi) and the nasty turns it took. Great, compulsive read for me.
Just started reading it today and I am loving how fast-paced it is already! It immediately got me hooked and on the edge of my seat, I can’t wait to see where the story goes
I'm a few chapters in.The first chapter nearly lost me. If I had triggers, abusive father would be one of them. But now I'm into some serious action and holy sh....
On chapter 15. So far I’m loving this book. I’ll have more detailed feedback the closer I get to the end of the book.

Remember to use spoiler tags if/when discussing key plot points.
And as always, have a good time!
