We are living parallel reading lives, clearly. Except I hated this book too. :)
Totally agree with your review. This book just ends up as confusion, really.
I had the same experience. Brilliantly written, it hooked me at the start — but I got lost (was that the point?).
Another reader-twin here! LOL, "I didn't know who was alive or dead, just that they were all talking...." is basically me at brunch trying to describe the book to my skeptical friends.
