I'm curious about how far authors should go with research for medical details. I recently spent THREE DAYS researching pheochromocytoma for a single scene (rare adrenal tumor), and I'm wondering: do readers actually notice this level of detail?
Robin Cook seems to do exhaustive research. Michael Crichton too. But at what point does it become obsessive?
How do you feel about medical accuracy in thrillers? Does it break immersion if details are wrong, or can you forgive it if the story is good?
