Encounter is a memoir written like a thriller about overseas cross-cultural service in Western Samoa in 1990. Nervous, naive and overseas for the first time we volunteer to teach in a church school but instead spend days battling a devastating cyclone. Encounter describes our struggle to live as people of God in an alien culture stripped down to basics - without power, water and running out of food - and the lessons God taught us.
