James McDevitt Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope I did people like your father and all the other brave men and women of our nation that have served and serve. This was inspired by a true story of WWII of a professor who crashed in the snow in PA to be saved by a stranger. The same man later on became a POW and was in the death march. The same stranger saved him once again.

Jane That is sorta close to what happened to my dad and his friend, except. Every single Sunday and every summer vacation our two families were together growing up. Your dialogue between the guys in your book is very close to how they talked to each other full of joking, profanity and crazy funny stories that continued into when they got home. They never spoke of the death, how hard it was or what really happened. I did hear from my dad in the hospital when he had a surgery and it didn't look like he would make it and under heavy medication he started to talk about what you wrote about. Both my parents went out of the way to help other people from Mom's free hair cuts to supporting the Shrine burn center hospitals for children with monthly donations. I couldn't be prouder ot them and miss them daily. Growing up wasn't all perfect because for a while my did suffered some mental issues when he didn't remember us kids and we would come home from school and sent to out Grandparents across the alley because he was messed up in his head. Late in life the VA gave him 100% disability for his mental issues (then identified as PTSD). All in all i had a great set of parents and appreciate all of the good and the chance I had to hear some of what really happened to my dad and the long talks with mome about how she spent the war working in a hosery plant on items for the war effort as they change to making uniforms and equipment for the troops. Thanks for the remarks on my review. You will find it on Amazon under my reviewer name Jane Jones.
