THE SHADOWS IN THE CINEMA is now live!
Based on true events. 1990s China. A family living inside a haunted cinema.
Here's what happened the night my parents opened the auditorium door:
It was past midnight when the knocking started. Dong, dong, dong. Heavy. Rhythmic. Coming from inside the main auditorium.
But there had been no screening that night. No one could be trapped inside.
My father grabbed a meter-long iron bar. He told my mother to guard the entrance with a flashlight.
When he unlocked the door, a violent gust of cold air slammed it open. The wind carried the smell of mold and decay.
My mother tried to keep her eyes fixed on my father. But something compelled her to lift her gaze toward the stage.
There was a figure standing there. Motionless. Silent.
It stood at the doorway of that second-level room—the room where a man had once died, struck by a falling ceiling fan.
And the figure had no head.
Just empty space where a head should have been.
