Courtney Kleefeld This was our introduction to Fyodor Dostoyevsky in my Dostoyevsky class, as it is one of his earliest works from before he was sent to prison for being a part of a political group that was reading forbidden literature. After prison is when his writing really shines. I highly recommend reading more of his works! The Dream of a Ridiculous Man is a great short story of his that may have inspired C S Lewis' Space trilogy, and Crime and Punishment is a great redemption story. The Brothers Karamazov is his final masterpiece which has conversations about suffering and God and the meaning of life in it.

Asher Allen I'll have to check out that short story. I haven't appreciated Dostoyevsky's shorter works as much as his novels (it's the other way around with Tolstoy), but I like him enough as an author to keep reading. I loved Crime and Punishment, and I'm intending to reread The Brothers Karamazov because I know I didn't fully appreciate it when I first read it.

Courtney Kleefeld Yeah, I still haven't read The Bros K all the way through and want to do that at some point too though I read a great majority of it.
