Hi. Third person isn't my favorite, but if the author can pull it off, they are really good. One series I would recommend that is written in third person is Consequences by Aleatha Romig – Dark, kidnapping, abuse, graphic. It's not really "mafia", but is dark and well written.
I struggle with 1st person. It has to be very well written for me to like it. And since I want to give it a try to the dark romance genre I rather start with something in 3rd person. I will define check out your rec.
I LOVE the predator by Runyx and it is written in 3rd person! This was my first dark romance read as well.

I get having a favorite type of reading style. Before I started reading romance, everything I read was mostly in third person, and I struggled at first with this genre because so much is written in first person.
It took a bit for me to like it, but then I started finding that with romance novels I felt the emotion more if I was reading in first person. But everyone is different and every author is different as well.
Happy reading. Hope you like the genre.

It was fun to have first time readers feeling all the feels I did. Glad you liked it.
