I totally agree with you.
Yeah I agree. I enjoyed it because I love this series and I'm very invested in all the characters/side stories. However this really felt more like it should have been a short story.
Yes! How can we focus on preventing Ragnarok when we have to focus on a snafu in NM and weird interludes that weren't even time linear?

I think this would make a fantastic locked room novella.

I think the NM situation could have been handled with a phone call at the beginning, and a 'here's what happened, boss' for an epilogue. Sets up (what I'm presuming is the next book) future events, neat and tidy.

If it was any other series, it would have been 2 for me. *And* I deleted the e-ARC, which I've never done for the series.

Thanks! When I posted this back in March, IIRC the comments were overwhelmingly positive, and I felt I was perhaps being too harsh.

Yeah, any other series would have gotten 2 stars from me.
Confusing? Daryl was sent to deal with a problem, he dealt with it in a few paragraphs, Sherwood nearly lost it, called Warren for help, Warren dealt with it, in a few paragraphs. Advances the, Daryl is ready to lead his own pack/Warren can take his place as second storyline. As Mercy said (not exact quote, gave book to local library) "Maybe we are not as irreplaceable as we think we are" a fun line from the character the universe is set in.
I could not agree more. It was like she threw all of her previous stuff into an AI, clicked “write something” and then put some gloss on the output. I’m 230+ books deep this year and I want all of those hours back. It’s so rare for me to feel this way, but I’m not sure I will come back to this series or this author.

I deleted the ARC off my Kindle. I've never done that with one of her books before, but I know I'm not going to read it again, even to prep for the next one.
I’ve had the audiobook for a week & still haven’t finished it. There’s no tense … stakes that would have otherwise compelled me to finish it quickly. I keep trying to listen to it, but then I find myself checking mail, flipping through Netflix, even loading the dishwasher only to realise I hadn’t been paying attention and just missed 30-45 minutes of the story.

Yeah, I get that. I'm like that a lot of times with podcasts; it just becomes noise unless I'm actively engaged in it.
Thank you for saving me time - bc now I won’t waste it reading this. I’ve felt like I’ve been less enthused with the past couple of books, and wanted to check the reviews before reading this one lol

You're welcome! Hopefully the series picks back up with the next one.
I read this book when it first came out, and I was SO disappointed. I forgot to write a review at that time, though, so I read it again recently so that I can review it with the story fresh in my mind. lol Ugh. My opinion didn’t change. I’ve read all of the Mercy Thompson and Alpha Omega books, but I think this one will be my last, sadly.

Yeah, I'm definitely not enjoying the more recent books as much as some of the earlier ones.

I deleted the Advance Reader Copy off my Kindle, which I've never done before.
Agree, it's like a different person wrote this one...or she has a new editor? This novel wasn't out when I last read the series but after back to backing my way through it I'm struggling to care about finishing this last one.
Love the series but this one is so scattered and disjointed. The change in pacing and plotting from previous books didn’t work for me
