Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. Whether positive or negative, thoughtful feedback always helps an author grow, and I genuinely appreciate how much effort you put into expressing your thoughts.
Just to clarify something important:
I’ve been writing and publishing long before ChatGPT—or any similar tools—even existed. I published my first book in 2018 and have been writing since then. Grimthorne was written entirely by me. No AI was used in the writing, drafting, or plotting. Any errors or awkward sentences are fully human—mine not my former editor’s—and I take full responsibility for them.
With that said, yes, the book has room for improvement, like every debut installment in a series. That’s the nature of writing: no matter how many times you revise, there will always be things you later wish you polished more. And honestly, that’s exactly why readers like you exist. You catch the things that slip through after months of writing, rewriting, and re-reading. Some of your points are valid and will help me strengthen future editions and future books. Others are stylistic or tied to the worldbuilding, and that’s completely okay, every reader experiences a story differently.
Your review is your review, and you’re absolutely entitled to it. I appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts, even if they were harsh. Criticism is part of the journey, and I’m always learning.

Hey love, I just wanted to personally thank you for catching that mistake.
I looked into it immediately, and it turns out the line was added by the editor I was working with, without my approval. I've already removed them from the project, and the manuscript has been corrected.
But I want you to know this:
Your attention to detail truly means the world to me.
You didn't just read the book, you saw it. You cared enough to point it out, and because of you, the story is cleaner, sharper, and exactly the way l intended it to be.
As an indie author, having readers like you is priceless. You're part of the reason this world feels alive. Thank you for taking the time, for being honest, and for helping me protect the integrity of Grimthorne.
If you ever notice anything else..or even just want to talk about the story: I'm always here.
Truly.
With gratitude,
