hehe...right there on the shelf next to the mysteries with cats and cupcakes. And we've all seen those and shivered, haven't we? 😄

Here’s something interesting - I read yesterday that mass market paperbacks are on their way out as a book format. I wonder how the publishing world will treat books like cozies which rarely make it to trade paperback or hardcover?

That's odd. I looked up the diff between mass paperback and trade paperback, and essentially, trade are those huge paperbacks that cost a fortune, but are on good paper. The kind I don't *want* to buy because of the size. Mass, although of terrible quality, is what I think of when I think of "paperback". It's what was on the shelves at home and the drugstore twirly rack you got your summer reading off of.
Another bit of culture waving goodbye....
Thank you for the wonderful review! Dang, I should never have let my publisher talk me into the Subtitle. It probably has unfairly cost me a lot of stars! But again, a sincere thank you. So few readers leave reviews. - steve s.

Thanks to YOU Steve, for writing such a neat book. I look forward to seeing something new from you before long. :-)
So terrific that you loved this one as well Barbara and noted its very unique character! Great review!

Alan, great seeing your name here. Back when you posted it, your review of Paper Targets was one of my favorites!
This has been the book I keep recomending; it is one of the most fascinating novels I have ever read and I still think about it. That subtitle did a bad service to the author in that it probably has kept readers from opening it. "Never Judge A Book By The Cover" but we all do, don't we? Your review is fine: "It stands many of the tropes of crime fiction on their heads to create a tale that not quite like anything I’ve read before." ( Maybe even worthy of a nudge up to 5 stars to help give the story more traction. )

The book has stayed with me as well.
The western feels and the poetry of some of the lines, with the crazzzzzzy cast of characters. Memorable and good review too
