Armando Rodera Hello everyone!

I’m Armando Rodera, a crime fiction writer from Spain, and I’m thrilled to share the first book of my Bermejo & Roncero crime saga in English: The Color of Evil:

📚 About the book:
A cruel and calculating killer. A fight to the death between good and evil. A battle that defies the bounds of reason.

Detective Francisco Bermejo, of the Madrid Police Department, Spain, worn down by his personal demons, takes on a seemingly routine case: the disappearance of a young couple during a day out in the mountains. But the discovery of their lifeless bodies, arranged in chilling and symbolic ways, turns the investigation into a nightmare.

With Sergeant Roncero, a young psychologist from the Civil Guard, Bermejo must unravel a grim enigma steeped in psychological games, symbolism, and a deadly mind. As the crimes spread across Spain—from Madrid to the forests of Extremadura and the historic streets of Salamanca—political pressure, media scrutiny, and inter-agency tensions put the investigators to the ultimate test.

Why readers love it:

Fast-paced and gripping psychological thriller

Complex, atmospheric settings across Spain

Intriguing moral dilemmas and intelligent investigation

📖 Formats & availability:
Ebook, paperback, hardcover, audiobook, and included in Kindle Unlimited.

Whether you’re a fan of European noir, psychological thrillers, or character-driven crime fiction, this series will pull you into the darkness and test your instincts.

💬 Q&A invitation:
I’d love to hear from readers:

Have you read psychological crime fiction set outside the usual locations like the US or UK?

Which aspects of a crime thriller draw you in the most—complex killers, investigative procedure, or atmospheric settings?

Any questions about Bermejo, Roncero, or how Spanish law enforcement differs from other countries?

I’ll be happy to answer all questions and discuss the book, the series, and the dark psychological themes I explore throughout. Let’s talk crime, suspense, and the art of creating tension!

Thanks and best regards!

Besides the US and the UK, I know I have read one set in New Zealand (Quiet in Her Bones). I don't have my shelves separated by thriller subgenre and I'm going to have to change that. I'm looking forward to reading your novel.

Sean Peters (A Good Thriller) This sounds very good, I will be joining in for this read

Armando Rodera Hi Lesle, Pam, and Sean,

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome and your kind words. It truly means a lot. I’m really looking forward to interacting with the group and to the moment when you get to read the novel — I hope you enjoy the journey into Bermejo and Roncero’s world.

Yes, I would definitely be interested in participating in BOTM. I’m not entirely sure how the scheduling process works, so I’d be grateful for any guidance. Also, since this is the beginning of a book saga releasing in English over the next few months, I’d love your opinion on whether you would prefer to feature The Color of Evil or perhaps one of the upcoming installments once they’re out. I’m happy to adapt to what works best for the group’s calendar.

For those curious about the series, here’s a brief overview:

The Bermejo & Roncero Crime Saga is an atmospheric, character-driven police series set in Spain, blending psychological tension, symbolism, and unexpected twists. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the emotional and psychological arcs deepen across the series.

The Color of Evil (Book 1) – Out now

The Scent of Fear (Book 2) – Releasing February 21
International mafias, serial killers, and human trafficking.

The Master of Deception (Book 3) – Releasing March 21
Theft of artworks from a major museum in Madrid.

The Taste of Defeat (Book 4) – Releasing June 27
Poison and literary mysteries hidden in classic works of British literature

The tone grows darker and more complex with each installment — ideal for readers who enjoy European noir with strong psychological depth.

Thank you again for the opportunity to be part of this community.

Best,

Armando

Armando Rodera That’s interesting, PamG — I haven’t read Quiet in Her Bones, but now I’m curious!

As a reader, I’ve always enjoyed crime fiction set in many different countries. Of course, I’ve read a lot from the US and UK — Lee Child, Connelly, Patterson, King, Preston & Child — but also Nordic noir (Nesbø, Mankell, Camilla Läckberg), French thrillers like Jean-Christophe Grangé, and novels set in Italy, Germany, Thailand, and other places.

I honestly can’t remember reading one set in New Zealand, so that might need to change. ;-)

All those authors shaped me as a reader — and, in some way, helped me develop my own voice as a writer.

Regards.

I do enjoy books that take place in other countries. My response was specifically for psychological thrillers. If you go beyond that to other subgenres of thrillers, then I've read books that were mainly set in 40+ different countries. One series that I especially liked was the Dept. Q series by Jussi Adler-Olsen set in Denmark.

Armando Rodera Hi Pam,

Thank you very much for the information and for the opportunity — I truly appreciate it.

October 2026 would work perfectly for me, if that month is available. Please feel free to schedule The Color of Evil there.

Just to clarify one small point: the English edition of the series is published by an independent international editor/publisher, so I’m not personally able to provide review copies directly. However, the book is currently available at a special price ($/£/€ 0.99) and is included in Kindle Unlimited in all Amazon stores, which hopefully makes access easier for interested readers.

If there is anything specific you need from me for the Q&A or scheduling, please let me know — I’ll be happy to provide it promptly.

Thank you again for your warm welcome. I’m really looking forward to participating.

Best regards,

Armando
