Correcting a novel's genre > Likes and Comments

Apparently librarians can't edit a book's genres at all as it's crowd sourced. Maybe contact support and see if they can do it. Good luck.
This was not shelved by readers, but was a direct result of the mislabeling of the genre by Net Galley, which has been corrected for quite some time, It’s very frustrating that I - or my publisher - can’t seem to correct the genre of my own novel. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
Your book has 60 ratings and 47 reviews, so, yes, it was shelved by readers. To reiterate, genre tags are set by user shelves, and cannot be changed.
As I said, it was mistakenly put under the wrong genre by my publisher to net galley - and was submitted to Goodreads that way before it had ANY reviews or ratings - so, no, it wasn’t shelved by readers, it was mistakenly shelved under the wrong genre by Net Galley (now fixed). My publisher has also tried to fix this through the librarians group - I really would appreciate one of the librarians correcting this before the book is actually released, so that readers don’t mistakenly continue to believe the novel is horror. Thankyou.
That's ridiculous. Everywhere but on Good Reads, the novel is listed under the correct genre. This, as I said over and over, was a mistake by my publisher, as it has acknowledged (not shelved by readers)_mistakes are intended to be corrected. Are you saying I - and my publisher - cannot correct the genre of my own book?
Unfortunately, going that avenue, sends me right back to the librarian group to fix the problem. PLEASE. This is very frustrating and not helpful to this novel. Unless there’s a specific rule that will punish you in some way for doing it, can’t you just correct it, so that it complies with the publishers and Amazon’s genre descriptions? Thankyou
Matthew, just to clarify: librarians don’t have any ability to set, edit, or remove genres. There isn’t a punishment issue or a rule we’re avoiding. It’s simply not an editable field on our end.Genres on Goodreads are generated from how readers shelve the book, which is why Scott is saying they can’t be changed manually.
Goodreads explains this here: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

I have been trying for months to delete one of the genre my nove is listed under and to add the correct genre's, 'A Reckoning Up Black Cat Hollow.' https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2.... I have been unable to do it on my author profile page or on the actual book page, which incorrectly has one of its genres listed as 'Horror.'
The correct genres for the novel are ‘Fiction, Literary Fiction', ‘Literary Thriller’, ‘Psychological Thriller’, Psychological Fiction.' Somehow 'Horror' was mistakenly listed the genre of the novel when the publisher registered the novel with net galley - this has now been corrected on Net Galley - https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/boo... - and, amazon -https://www.amazon.com/Reckoning-Up-B... -etc. Could someone please correct this error for me on Good Reads -Calling the novel horror is very misleading to readers, who are looking for that sort of book. Thankyou very much in advance for your help. Matthew F. Jones
