Fran Hawthorne I was intrigued by your comment:
"I think both books, short though they were, completely captured a piece of a life. Not the whole of a person, but a moment that mattered." When we read fiction (most of us), we expect a STORY, and by definition that has to extend past one moment. I think your review wisely points out the value of focusing on a smaller piece, as long as it's a significant piece and well-written, of course.

Fran, your comments are always so spot-on!! Yes, of course this had a STORY, but it was not, by any means, long-winded and complicated. It was like that perfect taste of "a day in the life of..." x

I will read his backlist for sure.
