I'd like to nominate The Hungry Moon by Ramsey Campbell (1986).Isolated village, druids, the moon and some funny stuff, what could possibly go wrong? :P
The Hungry Moon
I nominate Cast a Cold Eye by Ryan Alan .
First published in 1984, it’s an atmospheric novel with folk-horror and ghost story elements. It takes place in Ireland, so I thought it might be fun for March.
The Woman in Black by Susan Hill(1983)Synopsis: A young solicitor named Arthur Kipps is sent to the remote town of Crythin Gifford to settle the estate of the late Mrs. Alice Drablow. While at her isolated, fog-wreathed home, Eel Marsh House, he encounters a spectral woman in mourning clothes.
OMG I'm freaking out! LOL I ADORE 80's horror. I've read a bunch of these noms, (Michael Slade ROCKS!!!), but I'm voting for:+1
(haven't read this one yet and have been meaning to for years.)+1
(Rick Hautala used to hang out here at Goodreads and would comment on reviews all the time. I still come across them here and there.)Lastly, I've read it but I'm absolutely crazy over Michael McDowell, so +1 for
The Collector by John Fowles: lonely, obsessive man kidnaps a young art student and holds her captive
Librarian wrote: "The Collector by John Fowles: lonely, obsessive man kidnaps a young art student and holds her captive"Hey hey, this came out in 1963 so it doesn't fit the 80's theme.
Char wrote: "OMG I'm freaking out! LOL I ADORE 80's horror. ."Me too, fun.
So many great votes in the thread already I'll just wait for the poll.
I’m going to add to the ring:Wolf’s Hour - Robert McCammon (1989)
The Dark - James Herbert (1980)
The Light at the End - John Skipp & Craig Spector (1986)
Oooh fun!My nomination is: from 1983 Phantoms by Dean Koontz.Phantoms
This has been sitting in my TBR forever! And Ben Affleck was the bomb in 'Phantoms' so.... :)
Vance wrote: "Brian Lumley - Demogorgon (c) 1987"
+1 Demogorgon. 1987. Brian Lumley
+1 The Light at the End
+1 for Wolf's Hour by Robert Mccammon [to be fair, any Mccammon except Swan Song (due to recently reading it, not dislike!)]
I will +1 The Hungry MoonI know someone already nominated The Tomb, but The Keep is technically the first book in Wilson's Adversary Cycle, which I've been meaning to read for years, so I think I will nominate that. I think Repairman Jack first appeared in Tomb, but as a series, Keep is "technically" first. Not having read them, I have no idea if that actually matters or not :-)
W.T.H. wrote: "Headhunter by Michael Slade"What a wild ride that book was. I haven't read it since it first came out and it still sticks with me today!
Robert wrote: "I will +1 The Hungry MoonI know someone already nominated The Tomb, but The Keep is technically the first book in Wilson's Adversary Cycle, which I've bee..."
You can read The Keep, The Tomb and The Touch in any order, as they are all independent stories. It's not until Reborn that The Keep comes back into play, and Nightworld that they all come together.

This month’s theme is 1980s horror.
Here are the rules -
1) All nominations had to be originally written between 1/1/1980 and 12/31/1989.
2) It can not be a book we’ve already had as a group read. (Please check the link https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)
3) Yes, you can nominate a Stephen King title, as long as it follows rules 1 and 2. If King’s books receive the most votes, we will select the top vote-getter. The other group read would be chosen from the top non-King book. I know us moderators try hard to get all of you to look past Uncle Stevie’s books and expand your palates, but here’s your chance to “get it out of your system.” Make it count!
