I loved the book so much, even after reading for free on NetGalley, I just ordered myself a copy and one to give to a friend! I know a few of the polygamist who still live out at the commune! They had a reality tv series at one point. I’ll be sure to read Jacking George soon.
Thank you. What an amazing coincidence you have a personal connection to the people who inspired the setting of Shards. We visited them back in the late 90s when the community was in its infancy. I remember the series, too. Fascinating. FYI, Hacking George is set in the UK. It's the sequel that's set in the southwest. Just managing expectations ;)

I'm currently writing a sequel to a book called Hacking George (published under my real name Bob Palmer). George Goes Rogue is also broadly set in southeast Utah. See! I can't keep away even when I'm at home.
