What a shame. The cover art is lovely. Fabulous review, Rosh. 🤗💕
Oh that's a shame. What would you think of a child who never asked questions during a story? They just listen and follow along silently.
A fair and fantastic review, sweet Rosh!! 🥰❤️😘 I'm so sorry this was disappointing!! 😭🫶🏼 But at least the illustrations were good! 😅🤭 I hope your next read will be a million times better!! 💕
Awh, what a letdown. It’s a shame the story wasn’t executed well, but I’m glad the illustrations made it a somewhat bearable experience. Hope the next one delivers 🫶🏻
Ahh so sorry this was a disappointment, Rosh. Glad that it’s visually stunning but the logic gaps might make it a tough read for curious kids. Those watercolors sound beautiful, though! Great review!<3<3
I recently read a collection of MG stories like this, where they all were okay stories, but you just had to accept the coincidences and zero explanations. I know it's for young readers, but there has to be a LITTLE logic. The illustrations do look lovely, though. Wonderful review, Rosh!
Oh, wow! Hand-painted illustrations sound amazing! If only the story was as good or least better structured to do justice to the artwork. Terrific review, Rosh. 💝
I sure don't get spring vibes from the cover. 😬
You’re really going through a few books that don’t end up meeting your expectations. I can deal with some coincidences, life is full of them anyway. But too many coincidences is not very realistic and can definitely take you out of a story. A cigarette being deemed fine in a children’s book definitely feels very outdated. That seems like a big no no. Fair and honest review, Rosh.
Bummer that the storyline didn't live up to the gorgeous and amazing artwork! Great and thoughtful review, Rosh :)
I'm glad the illustrations truly delivered. Sometimes it can enhance the story. But I'm sorry in this case it didn't and rather failed.
Hey, at least the illustrations are good. But why is there a cigarette in a children's book? lol
Sorry this was such a letdown, Rosh. Great review, as always.
Shame this one was a flat experience for you Rosh, you're right, the premise sounds good. Anyway onto your next read, great review :))
The idea of three unlikely characters coming together looked quite promising. Sorry this story felt flat. At least the illustrations were good.
Fair, helpful review, Rosh! 🥰

Thanks, Shelley! 💖 Yes, the art was really lovely.

Interesting question, B. I wouldn't judge such a child at all. Not all children are verbal about their thoughts. I was one of them. I used to think of questions only on my head. 😊

Thanks so much, dear Sarah! 💖

Thanks much, Saranya! 💖 A few logic gaps can be explained away but this was a bit too full of gaps. 😬 The art was the saving grace.

Exactly, A! There's a minimal level of logic that's mandatory. You can't let too many things stay unclarified. Thank you!

Yeah,I was so impressed that they were hand-painted. It took the artist over a year, imagine! It's so sad that the story didn't match up.
Thanks so much, Sri! 💖
I didn't find anything spring-y or Easter-y anywhere in the story! 😬

It's such a bad streak, Thibault. Even classic short stories and children's books are turning out to be duds. 😢
I would expect a simpler story in a picture book but this one really stretched the simplicity.
I didn't even expect a cigarette to pop up in a children's book! 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you so much.

Thanks, Kealyn! I guess illustrations alone cannot save a book.

Thanks, Perse! That's my question as well. A children's book shouldn't even mention cigarettes.

Thanks much, Mark! 😊 The premise sounded quite good. So sad it didn't match up to the potential!

Thanks so much, Nika! 🤗 That coming together of unlikely characters is such a good idea usually in fiction.
3-8 years seem like quite an expansive age range to cater for. Perhaps that contributed to some of the haphazard nature of the story.
So sorry that you didn’t enjoy this story. However, I’m glad that the illustrations were nice to look at. Terrific review, Rosh! 💗
Christy wrote: "3-8 years seem like quite an expansive age range to cater for. Perhaps that contributed to some of the haphazard nature of the story."
I always thought the same, Christy. But for some weird reason, children's books are always aimed at ages 4-8. Some books handle the range successfully as younger kids can enjoy the book while listening to it. But this one didn't work both ways.
