My thoughts EXACTLY. Well put.
Five year olds do NOT plan out the trip through the woods, the raft, any of that. They are FIVE. They are playing with toys, play-dough, eating sand. Why wouldn't he just make them 8? It wouldn't have mattered, really. Josh could have still disappeared when he was 12 or 13. Maybe SOMETHING weird could have happened in kindergarten, but it wouldn't have been that.
