Wow...your review mirrors my thoughts exactly. And I even went on to read the sequels.
There is a show about people being killed by their pets?? Or was that just a metaphor? Somehow I wouldn't be surprised either way.
I'm in the same boat. I thought the writing was about as average as it gets, honestly a bit lower than that. But I finished it and download some others in the series. It's a bit like eating fried pork rinds, and not the good ones. A bag of them from the dollar store. Laird Barron with a grievous head wound, and I apologize to Laird for that
