It drove me crazy that Dorothy was never developed and convincing as Hamish’s love interest. Apart from her being pretty, which definitely was in line with his character, the humor and wit was not there. And as someone mentioned, no one questioned her abilities to buy expensive things on a police person’s budget? Ultimately, I could not feel sad for this new Hamish and the end of the book because it was so unconvincing to Beaton’s series.
Totally agree. R.W.Green doesn’t have Beaton’s spark nor a handle on her characters. He’s failed with Agatha and now, unsurprisingly, with Hamish. Please give up, R.W.
