Chuck Locklear I am reading The House on the Hill. It is a time slip story between the present and the mid-eighteenth century. The historical chapters tell the heart-wrenching story of an unwed mother, Sophie, and her complete lack of options. In the present, a widowed young woman leases a historic house, haunted by a female ghost, who I am guessing is Sophie. I am hoping for a satisfying ending, but right now I don’t see how. Still, I fell in love with Sophie, and I’m rooting for her.

I think we underestimate how much history shapes what we feel in the present.

Chuck Locklear So, true. I love reading about impactful people. Knowing that they thrived, motivate me to step up to my challenges.

Andrew Lokenauth Books about great lives do something no motivational speech can. They show you the full picture: the doubt, the failure, the near-quit moments.

The moment you read about someone who had every reason to stop and didn't, your own excuses get smaller. \

Chuck Locklear A Girl Called Samson is one of my favorites. It is about a young girl who tries something so difficult that she should have failed. She dressed as a boy and enlisted with the patriots in the American Revolutionary War. She succeeded against all odds; the best part is that it is a true story.
