I read this over 25 years ago- and it didn't work for me. It's not for me, but good review.
Hi Mirnes - a reader has to see and appreciate the satirical slant of the novel and it’s heavy lean to black humor or the point of the story is lost on them
Gosh I love this book and review. So glad you enjoyed it, Murray. And yes, the humor is brilliant! Have you ever watched the movie?
So many triggers in this one, but it really made me laugh. So glad you enjoyed it too, Murray. Now I need to rewatch the movie and compare.
i still have mixed feelings about this novel, i thought it was written almost..annoyingly. it's not short, and to be constantly reading elaborated rants about high-end-everything does get repetitive 100 pages in. like, we get it. anti-consumerism criticism. it's like telling the same joke over and over again.

I believe that was the point, just to show how empty those people and Patrick are. And I know a lot of people complaining about the same thing.

Many are repelled by the gruesome violence, but hey, he's a psycho after all. I have to give this one another read. It's been a while since I last read it.

I loved it. It makes me laugh every time I watch it.
