The Road to Moresco is a historical fiction novel that explores the dramatic events and emotional upheaval of Maria-Luisa Moresco and her daughter, Chiara as they persevered in the world events of the 1900's. Writing the novel was a personal story, a work of passion, a work deeply emotional and vulnerable for me to write. Most of the book is true to the events and lives of these real-world women, cobbled together from interviews and recorded historical events. Events and people I came to know as I searched for my birth-parents as an adopted child, albeit 50 years later.
Critics blessed me with many 5 star reviews and being named a Golden Book selection by Literary Titan. The critics describe my work as "emotional depth, historical insight and with a rhythmic narrative of intellectual rigor and vulnerability." Emotional atmosphere is supported with philosophical depth and historical detail.
I enjoy exploring themes of ambition, resilience, political oppression and personal growth.
I am also a comics fan, with my own collection and interest. It was a natural pursuit of passion to decide to launch this effort, a graphic novel version of the award-winning novel. It is compounded by the fact that my new-found brothers were also comic book collectors back when, even imagining themselves as super heroes, the Cross Bones Crew.
This is a meaningful and personal project. I want to be proud of it, and deliver a quality product you will be proud to own as well.
We are currently in process of development, with about 38 pages developed as of March 1, 2026. We are averaging about two pages a week. The full script is 106 pages, but there have been consolidation of ideas and themes as we have been going. Fully finished I expect the project to come in around 90 pages. The art team working on the panels has a modern classic style.
A separate artist has been commissioned for alternative covers which are being used for the Rewards. We have come up with several variants. There is a water color variant with pixelation that is inspired by the comics series Daytripper. There is an art-deco inspired variant. And an abstract/cold war variant. The Tamara Lampicka inspired variant is the premier variation. The Lampicka variant is also being offered as an animated NFT.
One of the main characters, Chiara, has three sons. They invented The Cross Bones Crew. It was the childhood super-hero troupe of youth, a band of brothers living out their comic-book inspired fantasies. There were sketches made, and dreams of publishing, that were never fulfilled. The Cross Bones Crew variant is an add-on reward either as a signed cover or as an animated 3D NFT.
The Road to Moresco is intended to be a work of utmost quality, both in terms of art as well as in terms of a captivating story. It is my hope readers will want to read this work over and over, pulled in by the intense art as much as the emotional story.
