it is a tear-jerker but such a beautiful one, Fran! I'm loving it so far! 🐶😍

It's fabulous, SLR! Definitely worth grabbing a copy.
Oh Rosh, thank you for your wonderful review and breakdown, such an interesting idea with all the different collaborations. Fantastic review 💕💕💕
Every dog is the best dog in the world. I think a collection like this only proves that. And it also seems like an interesting mix that showcases a lot of experiences shared between dogs and dog lovers. Though I totally get the dog having to perform a show not working for you. Good review, Doggie Fever Rosh.
That's quite a list of contributors! So many good dogs out there. As it said, dogs are as close to what we think angels are like than anyone or anything else.
Your review just makes me miss my girl so much. I lost my dog a few years ago and I still her so much. The book sounds absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. ♥
Oh my gosh wow this sounds like an amazing collection of essays penned by some contemporary greats! I'm going to add this to my TBR and save it for when I want some tear jerking stories about these beloved animals ❤️
As a dog lover I can't say any dog is better. Perhaps better behaved but I love them all the same, Rosh. And I'm a beagle owner - they are trouble!! Great review!
Oh this sounds absolutely fabulous. We have been through losing both our 17-year-old dog and cat to rescuing an eight week old puppy and an epileptic kitten so I’m sure a lot of these would resonate really well with me. It definitely was eye-opening going from the 17-year-old fur-kids to the little ones lol. A very fabulous review, Rosh💕🐾
I have been waiting for my local library to get this one. Thank you for this wonderful review, Rosh. ☺️
This was a great review, and overall sounds like a heartwarming book.
I can’t imagine my life without a dog in it; they bring us so much joy.
What you said about Amy Tan was disappointing.
The Joy Luck Club is one of my favorite books and movies, but Yorkies are probably the most abused when it comes to being “show dogs” or breeding.
Wonderful review, Rosh! From the first time I saw this book and title, I knew I wanted to read it. I’ll be sure to have tissues nearby. 🫶🏻
When I saw this on NetGalley, I immediately pre-ordered a copy for my collection and as gifts for friends and family. It would have been a nice touch to include candid photos of the authors with their dogs. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Wonderful review, Rosh! ❤️
Aw, this sounds both adorable and emotional. I miss my schnauzer now🥺 I never thought an essay collection about dogs are something that exists! Really glad you enjoyed it, Rosh, even with one of the essays lacking emotional depth. Fantastic review!💕
Beautiful review, Rosh. I saw this one but it will be quite some time before I would consider reading it. It has been just over a year since I lost my good boy and the tears still come too easily.
P.S. I have heard of this baby fever of which you speak, but have never suffered from the infliction personally. I totally understand doggie fever though and assume it is similar. ;)
A fabulous and spectacular review, sweet Rosh!! 🥰❤️😘 I'm so happy you enjoyed it, too!! 💕💕 This one made me cry! 🤧🥹❤️🩹
The author's name seemed familiar, and what do you know, it's the woman who wrote Practical Magic! I haven't read the book, but I adore the movie.
As a non-dog-person, I would enjoy the story of Roxane and Max. Animals are amazing, aren't they? My cat, Edward, will be eleven years old in two days. Great review, Rosh :)
Aww... this sounds adorably heartwarming (except for one essay, but that's okay)! So glad that the collection lives up to the claims. Is 99 the name of a dog? A quirky name for sure!
Terrific review, Rosh. 💝
This does sound like a must read for doglovers. An outstanding and comprehensive look at this new essay collection. I agree with you. Actual photos would be preferred.
This sounds lovely! Those really are some pretty big names in contemporary literature. So glad you enjoyed most of the essays. Wonderful review!

Thanks much, Jennifer! 💖 It's such an amazing book in almost every way!

Totally agree, Thibault! You'll like that many of the contributing authors also say the same thing in their essays. 😊
I don't get the point of those shows. Torturing dogs for human entertainment...🫤
Thank you, Doggie Lover Thibault. 🐶😁
Berengaria wrote: "That's quite a list of contributors! So many good dogs out there. As it said, dogs are as close to what we think angels are like than anyone or anything else."
Completely agree with that, B! Humans truly don't deserve dogs. We do deserve cats. 😂
Kealyn wrote: "Your review just makes me miss my girl so much. I lost my dog a few years ago and I still her so much. The book sounds absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. ♥"
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Kealyn! Such grief doesn't really go away as it's like losing a child. 😢 Sending you hugs! 🤗💖
Nicole Leigh Reads wrote: "Oh my gosh wow this sounds like an amazing collection of essays penned by some contemporary greats! I'm going to add this to my TBR and save it for when I want some tear jerking stories about these..."
It's good that you are reserving it for a tear-jerking requirement, Nicole! It sure meets that criterion. If you love dogs, there's no way you won't love this collection! 😍
Thank you! 💖
Canadian Jen wrote: "As a dog lover I can't say any dog is better. Perhaps better behaved but I love them all the same, Rosh. And I'm a beagle owner - they are trouble!! Great review!"
Almost all the contributing authors agree with you on that, Jen!
There are two pet beagles in my apartment building and I bump into them most mornings. I totally love their wild yapping! 😁 One of them, a three year old fella named Jerry, is my doggie bestie! 😍
Thank you!

Oh my, that's such a great loss to beat within a short time! 😢 I'm so happy you now have new kids to nurture. They won't ever be substitutes but they'll surely add to your wonderful memories. And kudos to you for opting for rescues, Dutchie! 👏🏻 💖
Thank you!

Thank you, Matt! Sadly, I can't have a dog due to my personal circumstances, but I love them so much! Some day, I hope I can have one of my own.
Oh yes, I'm with you on that. I loved The Joy Luck Club, so when I saw her name in the title, I was excited to read the essay . It was by far the most disappointing one! Not an ounce of warmth! It was all about the dog show than about the dog. Not gonna lie, I lost my respect for her after reading that write-up. 🫤

Thanks much, Nancy! 💖 Oh, me too! I didn't even bother to read the blurb! One look at that title and cover and I was sold! 😍
I'm sure you'll love it if you love dogs!
Jonas wrote: "What a gem! Love everything about this one! Wonderful review, Rosh’"
Thanks, Jonas! Truly! Were it not for Amy Tan's essay, it was an easy give star for me.

Oooh, that's so wonderful, Tara! You have surely made many people happy with that wonderful gesture! 😍 This is the kind of book I'd love to have in my personal collection. Sadly, Scribner doesn't have a branch in India so their books are exorbitantly priced here. 🫤
I hope the physical copy includes photos. Do let me know if your copy had pics!
Thank you! 💖

Oh, sending you hugs, Nat! Losing a pet is never easy. 😢
Except for that one essay, this book was a winner in every way. I love that such a book exists!
Thank you so much! 💖

Oh, you are the fifth friend here in the comments to have lost a dog baby, Cher! I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. It's definitely not easy to lose such unconditional love. 😢
Hehe, I guess baby fever and doggie fever both have exceptions. 😉 At least you have one of the two - that's good enough! 😁
