I've just finished 'How To Read a Book" and I highly recommend it. Now to our group book. Do you have a thought to share?

I found this novel to be dense, intense, compelling, horrifying, unexpectedly delightful at turns...it kept me begging, praying, pleading, for a single happy outcome, as if my life depended upon it.

What is your experience of reading this book about the Civil War?
