Gary Gocek I browsed lists for "2026", and for example, there is a list named "September 2026 Most Anticipated Romance Releases". Typically, books are "anticipated" when published through traditional publishers who have connections to the big distribution houses like Ingram. Goodreads checks these to build its own lists. Self-publishers cannot reasonably get into Ingram because it's too expensive.

Goodreads users can vote to add books to the list I named above, but a GR user would have to search Amazon for books to be published in Sept 2026 and then vote to add a book to a list. Authors cannot vote for their own books.

The reason I care is that Microsoft Copilot told me it searches Goodreads lists for books. So if a user asks an AI for a list of new books in a genre, the AI might show them anticipated books. As a self-published author, I would like to get my books into the lists.

I wish it was easier for a GR user to vote to add a book to a GR list. It takes several clicks to add any one book.
