Bradford— I’m sure I’m gonna get a lot of eye rolls, but the marketing team definitely deserves a raise
I haven't read this book and can't comment on the quality. Dare I say, there are already die-hard fans on standby with tomatoes in hand, but please, SenLinYu already has the book deal and all its hype, so one more one-star review won't tank her career. Excellent review, btw!
Nancy— why thank you! 😊 And I’ll happily take the tomatoes. I really wanted to love this, but it just didn’t work for me. I also cannot imagine anyone who has experienced SA could get through this content.
Jasmine— why thank you! 😊 I try to keep my opinions spicy— someone’s gotta do the heavy lifting of truth-telling🌶️💪
Priya— I definitely don’t want my review to discourage you. I just found the graphic content a bit intense, and that’s coming from someone who’s not at all a prude ☺️
Priya— I also felt the editing and grammar could have been much stronger, but of course, that’s just my opinion 💛
I could not agree more… I couldn’t WAIT to get my hands on this! ALL of the reviews! And I just don’t get it… this was just horrible.
Orb— Thank you so much 😊 I hate giving low ratings, it physically pains my little book-loving heart 😅📚 but I try to keep my reviews honest.
JD— the anticipation was so real, and it ended up being a bit of a letdown in more ways than I expected 😭📖
I actually tried reading Alchemised last year, but I couldn't even get past Chapter 1 because I was having such a hard time figuring out what was going on. I’ve put it on my DNF list. But I’m planning to give it another shot once I’m in the right headspace for it. Thanks for the honest review, btw. And don’t worry... like you said, you’re just being real. You're just giving the book some constructive criticism. Not all readers are going to vibe with every story and that's perfectly okay! 😊
See i really wanted to read this but now your review has me thinking it's going to be just as bad as haunting Adeline and idk if i take another book that bad so soon
Kyla— maybe you could borrow the book from someone or check it out at the library for free, so you don’t spend money on something you might end up DNF-ing ☺️💛
Sorry I missed this! I’ve been taking a little break from the app for the last few days. I understand how disappointing it is to see your follower count drop over a review. But please don't let that change your style. 😄 Your honesty is exactly why I value your reviews. I know I'm not alone...most readers really look for that kind of honest criticism before picking up a book. I mean, it’s rare to find someone who stays true to their experience rather than following the crowd. I really admire that you went with your gut and stayed genuine instead of just playing it "safe."
Glad to hear you aren't giving up on the author either. I hope the next book you pick up is a five-star read for you! 😊❤️

If I get enough I’m making pasta sauce and calling it a win 🍝🍅
Well, I wish you success. Great review by the way. Not my sort of read but it is refreshing when someone goes against the grain. Books are entertainment and not eveyone is going to like, or make a connection, with the same thing, just like taste in music and movies. Nobody should have negative experiences based on how they feel about a read they had, unless it is just based maliciously against the author. Losing followers, while maybe hurting a little, just means they are people with tunnel vision who cannot see out of their own view. If we all liked the same things there would be few book, movies or music needing to be made

Thank you, my dear sweet Lumpy! I actually read this a while back, but after sitting with my initial review, I realized it came across a bit harsher than I intended. I wanted to revisit it with a more thoughtful perspective, because even when a book doesn’t resonate with me personally, I don’t think it’s fair to judge it too sharply💛💛💛

Well, thank you, my friend. It wasn’t really my usual kind of read either, but sometimes I enjoy stepping outside my normal comfort zone. I’ve definitely lost followers over reviews they didn’t agree with, but I’ve come to be okay with that— those who leave simply make room for others who are a better fit for the space you’re creating. Your kind response really resonates with me, and I truly appreciate it. And, great name by the way! 😊

Hello sweet Sunyoung! Don't be sorry. I feel like we always need to take breaks from social media. I also apologize I never saw your response on here! I feel like Goodreads is very glitchy and sometimes I won't get notifications. But thank you so much! 🥰 Your words mean more than you know. It can feel a little discouraging sometimes, but hearing this really reminds me why I love sharing my honest thoughts. I’m so glad it resonates with you and others who appreciate genuine reviews. I hope you are doing well my friend.
💛💛
Katie I went through something similar when I dared challenge Blood Meridian. Thank you for your courage and strong articulation. I appreciate reading an honest review like this.

Hello my friend, and thank you! I was really excited about it too, but it fell a little short for me. One of my best friends loved it though, so I know it just comes down to different tastes. If you do try it I wish you the best of luck.😊
A DNF for me. Got through about 30 or 40 pages, and it was just a void. Covers can be deceiving. Great review, definitely helpful :)

Thank you my friend! I’m glad the review helped, that makes me happy. And yes, it’s frustrating when a cover pulls you in and the story just… doesn’t follow through. 😊

Hey my friend! This calls for our own little ‘we survived this book’ party 🤭💛

at some point I stopped reading and started decoding— which is not the same activity.
jajaja
Ay amiga, i am so sorry you didn't enjoy it. May your next read be better.

Katie, are you just reading the longest books that exist?
