I have a deep interest in sci-fi novels that deal with themes of control and freedom. I read and review every story I receive with complete transparency and genuine feedback. > Likes and Comments

Hi MBN. If you enjoy stories with mind-blowing tech, AI, and diverse characters caught in impossible situations then give my story a read.It is available to read free on Kindle Unlimited or ebook and paperback at the Az store.

Note: Although the Goodreads genre says Horror, this is really a Sci Fi novel with elements of mythological horror. So, I need some helpful Goodreads friends to shelve it under Sci Fi.
***************************
Dr. Susan Parker has only two years to build a machine that can upload human souls.
Five strangers step forward to test the prototype, each desperate, each carrying secrets they would rather leave buried.
A high-class escort seeking forgiveness. But it wasn't her fault.
A war refugee fleeing a violent past.
A ruthless investor who thinks he already plays God.
An eco-warrior demanding divine accountability.
A property mogul obsessed with securing his rightful place in heaven.
The Machine promises transcendence — a digital afterlife where misdeeds can be evaluated and souls preapproved before death.
But when their upload begins, the promised heaven fractures into something far darker.
Something sinister lurks inside the Machine.
Nightmares become real. Regrets take form. Survival is no longer guaranteed as rogue AI runs amok.
Trapped in a digital world that feeds on their fears and failings, the volunteers must decide who to trust — and who they will betray before the Machine takes them all.
A high-stakes science fiction technothriller where entering the mind-bending cyberworld of the Machine is dangerous ... and returning alive may be impossible. Perfect for sci-fi fans who love dark, psychological thrillers with truly diverse and flawed characters.
Dennis — I saw your comment about being interested in reading every sci-fi novel, I respect that mindset. If you’re open to something different, my book The War of Crowns: The Awakening might be right up your lane. It blends Atlantis, Lemuria, and Agartha with Anunnaki lore, Draconian forces, and star systems like Orion and Sirius — all tied into Indigenous history and Earth’s hidden past.
The story follows Christos, a completely blind protagonist whose perception shifts in rare moments tied to his awakening. I don’t talk much yet about the full origin of his powers, but it’s connected to something deeper — crystals, resonance, and an ancient source that won’t fully be revealed until later books.
If you like sci-fi that mixes cosmic history, suppressed knowledge, and layered storytelling, I think you’d find it interesting. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts if you check it out.
ALMA Dennis, I get the metaphor—but a lot of the greatest sci-fi ever written is that mix you’re talking about.Frank Herbert blended ecology, religion, politics, and mysticism.
Philip K. Dick mixed philosophy, altered reality, and theology.
Octavia E. Butler wove spirituality, history, and human evolution into sci-fi.
Arthur C. Clarke blurred science with cosmic and metaphysical ideas.
To some people, that is the “whisky.”
Science fiction has always been imagination pushing boundaries—there’s no single definition anyone can lock it into.
So what you’re calling “fruit cake,” others would call the core of the genre evolving.
But I respect your taste—good luck finding your whisky. O

Hi M.B.N. I'm new to Goodreads but I have a near-future sci-fi thriller you may be interested in. It's called The Rocket Scientist. You can check it out here on Goodreads or go to Amazon to read sample pages. Thank you. https://a.co/d/fYaz9Ms
