The Suicide Club follows four teenage girls who form a “club” to support each other through various challenges that trigger suicidal thoughts. One is an incest victim, one suffers from an eating disorder, another is exploring her LGBTQ+ identity as her girlfriend is assaulted and a fourth struggles with owning her sexuality leading to self harm.
This second edition, just released, features new material, substantial revision and an afterword by the author.
Based on a short story that appeared in Ms. magazine, the novel was developed with the assistance of a North Carolina Arts Council Writer’s Fellowship.
A previous edition with a different cover garnered Good Reads book club 5-star reviews for sparking heartfelt discussions and breaking the silence around suicide.
