I’ve read English poetry too but personally I like poetry in my mother tongue. Don’t come at me but I think English poetry doesn’t have the effect poetry in other languages have, it’s just so much deeper with languages I don’t even speak, like Arabic poetry or Chinese poetry. For me poetry is something where you don’t need to explain yourself. Just a few words would do and everybody perceives it in their own way with the experiences they have had. Do check out Allama Iqbal, Ahmad Faraaz and other Pakistani poets.
I love this, I do believe poetry forces us to deeply drink lines like a fine red wine, like a tasteful charcuterie board -the point is not to get to the end, the point is to wallow in the feelings throughout...
These days, any invocation of a feeling is as good as a mountain wellspring at the lips of the algorythmn.

Yet, poetry is that pause we desperately need. A line, a stanza, a poem can stop time, make us feel, make us reflect. Even as readers vanish and screens dominate, new authors are born every moment, bringing words that remind us of life beyond productivity.
So I wonder: in this rush, why do you read poetry? Which words make you pause and truly feel?
