I get what you mean, and that’s a fair point. The whole premise of the book, though, is that these scenarios are meant to happen within a safe, loving relationship, not as power exchange for its own sake, and definitely not as exploitation.

And if “cheating” means being promised an orgasm and then hearing no at the very last moment... well, some people would argue that’s exactly where the fun begins haha. That’s a big part of what teasing and denial is about.

I personally look at teasing as initiation not determination. Even when combined with denial I look at it as foreplay, even if it means foreplay for the future. For example, tease and denial in the morning can heighten the response in the evening or even later. But if my partner promises something and then says no, I’d begin to feel doubts whenever she speaks.
