It’s maddening. It has all the characteristics of AI and I swear most readers are too dumb to realise. Like, how are so many people raving about a book that keeps saying the same thing over and over?
I’m not a native speaker so I couldn’t tell for sure as I was reading but I did get that feeling. Checked the French translation (my native language) and I can confirm this one is absolutely AI
