Matthew Jones Somehow all of the messages I have had with the librarians group re. this issue have disappeared. Scott was the librarian trying to help me, and this issue relates to my publisher mistakenly listing my novel's genre as Horror with Net Galley. By the time they publisher discovered the mistake, the Net Galley four month prescription was up and the book was listed on Goodreads as horror. For months I and my publisher have been trying to change this to the correct genre (Fiction, crime fiction, psychological fiction, literary fiction) to no avail. I have been made aware that Librarians cannot change the genre (nor, apparently can I or the publisher, which is absolutely maddening). At any rate, I'm coming back now because I've been told that, though librarians cannot delete and change the original genre, they can add new (ie. the correct) genres to the listing. Could someone PLEASE do this for me. This issue has been tremendously damaging - and continues to be - to me and this book. Not only did the book go to horror reviewers and be bypassed by the reviewers looking to review literary and crime fiction, but all the readers I'm getting for the book identify as horror readers - and their reviews reflect it. I have published 6 others novels, all of the literary fiction, crime fiction, etc. genre, by major publishers. I've never written any horror. I am extremely frustrated and feel like a publication of a book I spent years writing has and is being destroyed by this issue - Please , Please could one of you add the correct lgenres to the book's listing ASAP? I greatly appreciate your help. Thankyou.

Dobby This is not a superlibrarian issue: Read this before posting in this folder.

Genres on Goodreads are set by user shelvings. This Help file article might give you some ideas you could use: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

Renske I don't know who said to you librarians can add genres, but we don't have any special abilities for that. Just like any other user librarians could add the book to their shelves with the genres/shelves they like to use, but that is entirely in their position as user, not a librarian task.

Dobby Here's a link to your previous conversations, wherein you were told that genres are not editable by librarians:
