Alex Riddle I actually agree with your review however for some reason the book captivated me. I hated Jude from the start all the way until the cop out ending. I hated the ending and I completely agree it was so unfulfilling to read this complicated book and then it ends all sweet and perfect as if we're supposed to praise Jude because she finally did something selfless. But the characters of Lexi, Zach, Grace, and Scot were intriguing. I wish Zach had finally stood up to his mother. Ah well.

Karen Couldn't agree more. Details were redundant- we get it, they're rich and Lexi's poor. If she described another one of Jude's outfits, I was going to need to start drinking... Heavily. A very whatever book lacking depth, twists and really anything very interesting.

Well guess what people like me hate people like u. So what if she adds so many details. The point of them is to get you to feel like you are in the story. Any body can write a book with no details but that's not what people want. People wont to feel like they are there right with the characters.

message 4: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Thank you, I thought I was the only one who hadn't drank the Kool aid. Awful, I couldn't finish it but Jude was a terribly written character and the outfit descriptions were painful.

message 5: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Thank you. Perfect review. Give me a break - this book was juvenile at best

message 6: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh I agree. I'm not understanding the rave reviews.

message 7: by Denise (new)

Denise Baker I thought the book was very predictable.

message 8: by Janet (new)

Janet I haven't finished the book, but this is how I am feeling. Thank you for writing you true feeling, sometimes it is hard. I usually just give them a star rating and walk away.

message 9: by Anne (new)

Anne Yes!

message 10: by Michele (new)

Michele Taylor agree! it was really annoying at times, not her best. I got this because of Winter Garden and The Nightingale and it was...too sappy

message 11: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Goldberg I agree with most of this and have very mixed feelings about this book. While I wanted to finish the book (and did), I was also bored and tired of the many over-written and sappy descriptions, especially towards the end as the characters started reconciling. It was just WAY too much of the same “eyes glistening with tears” and “hearts being tugged” characterizations. I loved The Nightingale but was very lukewarm about both this book and The Great Alone. I think I have Winter Garden on my bookshelf but I’m not rushing to pick it up anytime soon. Sadly I think like the idea of Kristin Hannah better than I actually like her books! How weird is that? I’d take Liane Moriarity over her any day.

message 12: by Carol (new)

Carol I loved The Nightingale and Winter Garden but this book was just tedious and way too sappy.

message 13: by Patty (new)

Patty Holmes If I hadn’t been reading this book I never would’ve found your great review! Not sure I have the patience to finish it! There is enough tainted sugar in this book to put a person in a diabetic coma!

message 14: by Joanne (new)

Joanne How many times does the word "fragile " appear in this book? You can make a drinking game out of it!

message 15: by Penny (new)

Penny Richardson Descriptions of Jude's clothes were intensely annoying, 'sheath' this & 'soft cotton' that!
This waa my fourth KH novel & definitely my least favourite.

message 16: by Lucia (new)

Lucia Popa I would have expected the author to explain at some point how the accident really happened ... which she never did. This proves that some events in the book happened too conveniently and superficially for the plot to carry on ... not real enough and even a bit insulting for my objective expectations.

message 17: by Patricia Dolak (new)

Patricia Dolak Way too long,.

message 18: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Yes!!!!

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Fitts Bahaha the juicy sweats killed me

message 20: by Michele (new)

Michele The Bookish Tea Room I completely agree with everything you said!

message 21: by Kandy (new)

Kandy Totally agree. Thank you.

message 22: by Candgplus3 (new)

Candgplus3 Agreed- Jude just annoyed me- walk your shy freshman daughter to her locker first day of school? Cringe

message 23: by Breanna (new)

Breanna Hedley My interpretation was that the readers weren't supposed to like Jude

message 24: by Renee (new)

Renee Tolin Agree!

message 25: by Kari (new)

Kari Vanalstine I didn’t like Jude at all. I felt like this was more Lexi’s story. Wrapping it up like Hannah did wasn’t the way I saw the ending. Jude & her selfishness wouldn’t just change like a miracle like it read. Definitely not my favorite.

message 26: by Alli (new)

Alli Stroud I DNF’d after ch 5. Maybe it wasn’t long enough but Jude was about to grate on my last nerve

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma Carolan Agree hated all the farrsdays pathetic men stuck up selfish Jude I hated the ending

message 28: by Loes (new)

Loes Michielsen Flat characters, i mean that Zach what's so likeable about him? He seems like quite a jerk to me. Jude also very stereotypical. Miles doesnt seem to have a personality either. Predictable story line too

message 29: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Baker Hated this book. So glad I wasn’t alone

message 30: by ms emma a holmes (new)

ms emma a holmes Mmmm part way through and its so vapid! Not for me.

message 31: by Irene (new)

Irene I loved this book, usually when a book makes me cry, it is at the end. This book made me cry twice and the first time was several chapters before the end. I hadn't read Kristen Hannah in many years, got this book from my granddaughter. Now I have to look for some more of her books.

message 32: by Dan (new)

Dan Trudeau The last 4-5 pages torpedoed the good will the middle section of the book had built for me.
