Is this actually good? I feel like everyone these days says you have to read this or you are a Philistine. Yet I find that it holds no appeal for me whatsoever. Am I misguided?

Yeah, it's great, but it's probably too late for you to read it. One of those books that you have to encounter as an undergrad, in a classroom, armed with all of the accoutrements (youth, intellectual hunger, a good teacher, a desire to build Big Theories of the novel, etc.). Don't fret. There are still books that need you....
