Maya, I completely agree with you. I did find Strangers very compelling. But even so, the NYT coverage of this novel was astonishing and it's inarguably connected to Belle Burden's New York old money heritage.
Similar feelings. A financial YouTuber reviewed it and I added it to my read list. I think I expected more excitement. She ended up okay, as one would expect when wealth surrounds you. I do admire that she spoke out, when it’s easy to stay silent. I can believe that was the world she grew up in and the way she was raised and breaking out of that space took effort.
