I have been off SM for years so don't have anything but a remote knowledge of tradwives, nor conservative Christianity, so was reading it as a fantastical story with blown-up characters – I appreciated the absurdity. I hadn't thought of the realities of conservative culture and your perspective makes sense and has me re-thinking the book (though not too much. It's a one and done-er) I do think there had to be *some* intent behind the kids' demon-mom, angel-dad reaction –we see that as a common reactions in dysfunctional families despite cultural and religious differences. Regardless, I was tiring of the book and agree that that small section was the most satisfying section of the book. Honestly, I've read so much I haven't liked in recent months that I was happy to be entertained!
