Trading books can so easily become dense reference manuals and I was keen to capture something the charts and checklists never show — the internal experience of being in a trade. The doubt, the discipline, the emotional tug-of-war. I'm really glad that came through.
On the illustrations — thank you for the feedback. It's interesting you raise it. When I initially started writing, the early manuscripts had no diagrams or charts at all. The overwhelming response from my beta readers was to include some and I'm glad I listened. But you're right that there's always more that could be done and the editorial challenge is really one of balance.
I actually had a hypothesis when writing: that when you're forced to visualise something yourself, you pay closer attention and that active effort aids the learning process. There's something powerful about constructing a chart in your mind rather than simply being handed one. Equally, it leaves more room for interpretation and a higher opportunity for concepts to be misconstrued. I hope I've struck a decent balance, but it's absolutely something I'll take into consideration for future books and any iterations I make to this one.
As for expanding into futures and options: I'm primarily a swing trader. That's where my passion and experience exists. I do intend to write a dedicated book on swing trading, as there's a wealth of new and interesting ground to cover there. On options, I've had some early success, but I don't yet feel I've earned the right to write about it with the authority it deserves. Maybe in a few years!
On the broader scope of TheStrat — it really is a vast methodology and my goal with this book was to give readers a solid, robust foundation. But there are many more layers to explore, particularly around concepts like in force, TFC and reclaim, which I feel could easily fill a book of their own. So watch this space and also follow my substack.
